I think the real ratings killer here is not Joe but the booking. Crap like the Dueces Wild tourney and the Ego 8 is what causes people to turn over to other channels because every time I see this crap I stop watching.

IMPACT 3 Weeks ago was basically a wrestling show and the rating was a 1.0
booking has been very poor, hope this poor rating will give the management a kick up the ass
I wanna see some new fresh feuds. The ratings for the ME is almost everytime poor, shows that nobody wants to see the same old Joe Vs. Angle. And bringing in Steiner sure doesnt help. They need someone new for Joe.
The X Division dont really have any feuds at the moment. Neither does the Tag Team Division or the Womans Division.
Its kinda all over the place right now. They got some things going on like Sting Vs. Storm, but nothing really that gets my attention.
The whole "Multi People" matches doesnt draw, its the One on One matches that will if they do it right.
I think the ratings will pick up a little after Sacrifice. People tuning in to see what now will happen. But if they start to put together stuff nobody care for, the ratings will slowly drop towards Slammiversary.

3 weeks ago was after Lockdown when they treated Joe being champion as nothing by just getting his segment out the way at the beginning of the show & then focused the rest of the show around the whole Super Eric crap surrounding the Tag Team Titles that made the whole promotion look like a damn joke. You'll notice the ratings have taken a downward turn since that time. Plus the heavy lack of advertising for the Joe/Angle FREE TV rematch didn't help either...I mean, at least TNA had ads on webpages for the 1 title/1 match/1 show Impact they did around a year ago between Angle vs. Rhino vs. Cage. We saw NOTHING for that past TNA's own website.
I don't think it's fair at all to blame Joe being champion because this isn't the "kayfabe" era anymore where your World Champion is responcible for everything on the show & everything reflecting the show. I have yet to see Joe put in the position Angle was as champion where the show revolved around him, I've seen show treated the same like he was before he was champion.

Agreed. Ever since that Super Eric momment it's been awful. I've tried watching iMPACT on the net and skipping through but as I fan you can only take so much of wrestler imitations, super hero gimmicks and guys who should not be in an active wrestling role on TV in 2008. Things need to change sooner rather than later.
Your right about Joe too. If he was given a shot at ben the focus of the show like Jarrett or Christian or Angle was maybe the ratings would be better.

^^^My bad, I counted back 3 weeks instead of 3 episodes. Anyways, my post is still relevant in that what happened as the entire Super Eric angle left a bad taste in people's mouth which resulted in some backlash of people not turning in which reflected the next week & it's still relevant in what I said before the TNA did a very shitty job of advertising Joe/Angle for free outside of their website. Maybe if they actually built up the FREE TV rematch thoughout the show instead of just getting it out of the way in the first segment the result would have been different. Unless you read spoilers, you didn't know these other matches were going to happen before the show so if people don't know they were going to have this type of action then there is no reason for them to tune in except blind faith they're going to see a good show which isn't enough to most vieweres to hook them in. So if you didn't like what TNA showed last week & you didn't know it was going to be a completely different & better show this week, why tune in? I got the wrong episode but everyone else was still relevant. If I didn't know that Angle/Joe was the main event, I wouldn't have tuned in to see that Impact that week. To be honest, I haven't watched Impact since that Joe/Angle episode for that reason...just the booking left a bad taste in my mouth.

The next time I'm taping IMPACT is when the World X Cup starts. Most likely I'll be fast forwarding through the other crap to get to the good stuff.
I can only hope with the outside talent they're bringing in for this that the matches will be more than five minutes long.
Another problem that is also hurting their ratings is the shows they are up against on Thursday nights.
Grey's Anatomy, CSI, The Office, Supernatural, NHL Playoffs, Lost, Without A Trace, ER to mention a few. Now that's a lot of competition for TNA iMPACT! to go up against.
My brother and I watch some of iMPACT! but we both got sick of it and turn it to Supernatural.
“I just heard Foghat and Molly Hachet are headlining Summerfest this year. I am so there!” - Chris Jericho on Jeremy Piven calling Summerslam Summerfest
It's the same competition they were generally going up against when they were pulling in 1.2 ratings(with some 1.3 quarter hours). There is absolutely no excuse for a .9 rating. TNA has to change it's booking and how it produces it's Impact show. When you've just crowned a new champ that everyone has been dieing to see in Samoa Joe and end up revolving the following Impact on Super Eric instead of your new champ then theres something wrong with your booking.
Wrestling is just getting crap ratings lately. Whenever you have Vince throw away the script for Raw, and make them rewrite it over to make it shocking....You know wrestling is in a rut. As for advertising TNA more, it'd help, but I'm not sure if that's everything. I mean Raw pulls in at least around a 3.2-3.5, and they advertise for ECW the next day. ECW still only gets around 1-1.3. You have that many viewers watching one wrestling program, you advertise another for the next day, and still you only get that?! Always amazed me....
So, I'm not sure what TNA can do anymore.
