The facts are is that this new serious tone of TNA's Product doesn't sell. Back in January TNA was a growing company which was reaching its peak. TNA needs to do what they did in January because in this day and age wrestling isn't as important.
It certainly seems that way. I am begining to think that the wrestling business is finally starting to pass me by and it is getting time to go. I am not content to settle for a niche indy product anymore that I either have to watch once a month live or on ppv. If it is not something I can follow every week then I am not really all that interested. I don't have time anymore to purchase backlogs of dvd's to keep up with the indy scene or to take long weekend trips to go to shows. With the price of gas, I don't even want to. I can live with a TNA product like what we saw during most of 07 and the beginning of this year, but just barely. I don't prefer it, but as long as it does have some good X division stuff or some decent matches, I can watch the product. I cannot live with a product that is any more Sports Entertainment oriented all talk no action though.
TNA has really only fluctuated a couple of hundred thousand viewers from their 1.0/1.1 ratings to the .9's. That is not a big drop in and of itself, but WWE has also recently put on a more traditional/serious product and the numbers have been down there as well. If it continues and is looked at as an industry trend, it will definitely be addressed and we will see less of that type of traditional product from both companies. I can't see anything igniting another War or attitude Era anytime soon, so the alternative would most likely be more cheap publicity stunts from both companies. More Pac Man jones/Kevin Federline type programs and more ridiculous angles.

Its a huge letdown, but then again, even WWE is struggling. RAW getting 3.3, ECW 1.1 (dont know smackdowns). Its the general state of professional wrestling today, people aint as interested as they once were.
I dont think blaming NBA or other season finales is the key. There must be more to it...
This is so dissapointing, for me in the last couple of months Impact has been the best its been for quite a while. With Joe and LAX holding the gold, Stings return and AJ's likely face turn i would have expected some much better ratings.
I'm not sure where TNA go from here but i just hope they don't panic into any bad decisions like Pacman Jones, or return to multiple backstage Kurt Angle skits to try and boost ratings.
I think its now time for TNA to try hitting iMPACT! on the road. Orlando can't really do much more for TNA, and ratings are showing that. Plus, TNA really needs to better the Heavyweight division, Ive almost lost itrest at this time.
However I'm still a diehard TNA fan and will stick by the product.
This rating sucks. There is also very little excuse for it to be this low too.
On the other hand, WWE's ratings for ECW and RAW have not been at their best either. Maybe we are heading into another pro wrestling recession.
This rating does suck, but TNA cant look at the WWE and take comfort that their ratings haven't been the best either and we as fans(especially TNA marks) shouldn't do that as well. Besides RAW's ratings although lower than I think they should be are not sinking at a rapid rate, I mean they've been at around the 3.5 mark for months now, and the 3.3 RAW got last week was an improvement over the week before.
This .9 rating for TNA is just inexcusable and if memory serves me correctly the .87 the .9 rating was rounded up from is lower than last week, in which case would obviously mean that TNA dropped even further this week. It's a strange and bad time for TNA.

That would be nice but we all know that these shows have very little(if any)affect on Impact. The most gain Impact could expect from these shows being over at this point is maybe getting a 1.0 rating that was rounded up from a high .9 rating. I mean do you really expect TNA to just jump right back to a 1.1 or 1.2 rating once these shows are done?
Disapointed TNA can't get the World X-Cup tornement on any sooner; i think this will really help push up the ratings and hopefully tna can gather up some momentum after that and get some quality well planned storylines leading up to Bound For Glory.

TNA's main audience is a casual fan base, they like more then wrestling, so it is more then plausible that some of the fan base is watching Lost, NBA finals etc, especially when both of those are nearing the end for the season. There is no real special time for wrestling e.g finale type show for a season so people tuning into Lost, NBA etc should be expected when your core audience is casual.
If you don't like TNA then don't post in the TNA section.
For those that are lost, WWE trolls post here, for Indy trolls post here
It was a poor iMPACT. I downloaded it and for the first 30 minutes one squash match. Why would I wanna watch that when the NBA finals are on another channel? Good matches later on but the first 30 minutes were so bad I dont balme people for not watching.
Thanks Phenomenal AJ for the awesome sig.
