    Default ROH Keeps Two Stars

Ring of Honor has announced that ROH Tag Team champions, The Kings of Wrestling (Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli) have signed new deals with the company. Here’s the announcement:

(Bristol, PA- September 2, 2010)- ROH officials are happy to announce that Chris Hero & Claudio Castagnoli have signed on to stay with Ring of Honor. For Chris Hero, it is an extension of his existing contract and for Claudio Castagnoli it is the signing of a new contract. The current ROH World Tag Team Champions have dominated in the tag team division since reforming at “Final Battle 2009”, and have had some of the most captivating bouts of 2010 including battles against The Briscoes at “The Big Bang” and “Death Before Dishonor VIII” as well as exciting singles bouts like Hero vs. Tyler Black at “Bitter Friends, Stiffer Enemies 2” and Castagnoli vs. Black at “The Bluegrass Brawl”.

“We are very happy to have Hero & Claudio on board with Ring of Honor for the foreseeable future.” said ROH President Cary Silkin, “These are two of the most talented wrestlers competing today, and it’s quite exciting to see how they will continue to excel not only in our tag team division, but in the singles ranks as well.”

Hero & Claudio will be in action next weekend with an ROH World Tag Team Title defense against Colt Cabana & El Generico in Plymouth, MA on Sept. 10th and a Dream Tag Team match-up against Shelton Benjamin & Charlie Haas on Sept. 11th at “Glory by Honor IX”.

One of the best teams right now in wrestling. This is a damn good move by ROH, and I think that they are at home at ROH if they went anywhere else they would not be used right.

After reading some of you posts, it seems that you have an ax to grind with ROH?? WHY??

ROH fans know that ROH is a starting company. We also know that once guys leave their best matches stay in ROH.

Do you really want ROH to go out of business or something?

To be fair though he makes a good point. All the major talent from ROH has eventually been drawn away to major wrestling organisations. He doesn't have an axe to grind, I believe he's just stating common sense

I find he does just checkout his post on how bad ROH is at storylines and matches from the "Terry Funk Working ROH's Glory By Honor PPV on 9/11" thread

I understand that. I was simply asking why? and also why he never bothered to answer by rebuttal in that thread about Terry Funk Working ROH's Glory By Honor PPV on 9/11.

Well I for one think the Briscoes have done all they can in ROH. I do think they should stay awhile longer until TNA resolves some of their warfare story lines, because jumping ship right now is the worst thing anyone could do...unless they want to join the X Division, which hasn't had a lot of screen time lately per se. Don't get me wrong. I want to see the Brisoces in TNA, but now is not the ideal time to Cross the Line.

The Briscoes should stay put in ROH for now. The WWE might start to rebuild their tag division if they are really going to start unifying a lot of their titles (since fewer mid-card titles could lead to more singles wrestlers placed in teams). Until that is proven to be true, the Briscoes should avoid the WWE unless they want to be treated like the Usos.

Of course they are going to move at some point. Why? Because they will get more money if they go to TNA or WWE. Tyler Black did it and he won't be the last. I have nothing wrong with ROH, but I just think that the wrestlers know that their name will get bigger if they leave ROH.

not really, the point is, the company plays that role in the wrestling industry, it's got its niche market, it's got to do with the kind of direction they go, the kind of booking, it's all made for a small portion of the wrestling audience. but as they have the boring guys like Strong, Richards, Edwards etc...they had (and still have) some great talent, but is that enough for them? Joe, Punk, Nigel, even Tyler Black and Danielson were destined to bigger things, i still see some pottential in some of their current guys:

The Briscoes: definitively to TNA and start a feud with Beer Money
Kevin Steen: perfect for TNA, almost a modern day Bill DeMott
Skullcrusher: could go to either one of the companies
Generico: either a great cruiserweight competitor or a comedy jobber, but anyways he'd get the crowd to cheer for him
Colt Cabana: funny midcarder, i see some sparks of Al Snow and Norman Smiley in him
Hero and Claudio: they would make a great run in WWE

ROHbots (there's a difference beetween liking/enjoying ROH and being a ROHbot), yeah i find them annoying and feel some compassion for them, they are so obsessed with how wrestling should be and whose guys should be the top dogs, how the entyertainment aspect should be erased, they think everything that either Meltzer/Cornette or youtube shooters say is true.
you can like ROH and enjoy other stuff, it wouldnt make you less of a wrestlin fan to enjoy a hardcore match, a women's lingerie match, a (insert something here) on a pole match, the problem is that most of those guys want to follow the stereotypes of the smart mark, and that effort on being made into something denies the capacity to enjoy Wrestling as a whole,

and no, i dont want ROH to go out of business, as i said, it's the best place for those guys that couldn't make it into WWE and TNA nor breaking into the wrestling meccas (Mexico, Japan...), and a good place for promising talents to prepare for better things, it's got a role in the business, and it's good for them to exist

^^Nice post dude. I didn't think you hated ROH since you like some of the talent. ROHbots can take their enthusiasm too far, but that's true for Star Wars fans, Beatles fans, or fans of pretty much anything. Having a pure wrestling company, a sports entertainment company, and a company that offers a blend is good. Variety is better than monotony.

I happen to like Strong and Richards, but to each his own.

I respect your opinion and your post was well written and I get where you are coming from. I also understand the role ROH play's within the wrestling business and i understand that these guys are in it for money like anyone else. Like i said they are a start up company for most guys. They are the stepping stone to the next level. But no one can not deny how great of a company they are. Cary , through his written blogs and Q&A's, says he hates to see his talent go but wants them to succeed in pro wrestling. Though ROH is my promotion of choice, i do enjoy other promotions like Dragon Gate, PWG and some others. I do support all wrestling as i always buy WWE dvds(mostly the documentaries) and Tna dvds. I just don't watch their weekly shows. I also don't watch ROH on HDnet. I just buy dvds. ROH made me love pro wrestling again. I find the best part of pro wrestling is the match and the moves. And for an indy company to have survived as long as they have and are getting bigger. They have no financial backing like Panda or the budget of WWE. they have lasted longer than ECW did. They have had alot of bumps in the road from that pedophile, to losing Punk, Losing Joe. They always turn it around and make new stars. Thats pretty incredible when you think about it since their fan base is growing.

and i can't believe you find Davey Richards boring. Hes gotten great on the mic and awesome wrestler.I think you should let me give you some recommendations for some shows.

This is my first ever post. I personally believe that this is an excellent signing by ROH. Both of these wrestlers have the potential to become the number one guy in the absence of Tyler Black. This is also a great sign for ROH as it attempts to overtake TNA as the number two company in North America.

i totally agree, having different products is what makes Wrestling survive over the years. anyways, to me the best company is that one that can blend lots of different elements, IMO, now TNA is the closest to that, i think it's only got left to add some luchadores and a little of the smash mouth New Japan style to their blend.
