    Default Intimidation through Face Paint...

Numerous wrestlers (more so today) are wearing face paint. In the past couple of decades, face paint played an intimidation factor.

Who do you feel posed the great intimidation through their face paint?

    Here's my list:

    1. Boogeyman (Marty Wright)
    2. Missing Link (Dewey Robertson)
    3. Great Kabuki (Akihisa Mera)
    4. Demolition Ax (Bill Eadie) & Smash (Barry Darsow)
    5. Umaga (Ed Fatu)
    6. Great Muta (Keiji Mutoh)
    7. Ultimate Warrior (Jim Hellwig)
    8. LOD Animal (Joe Laurinaitis) & Hawk (Mike Hegstrand)
    9. Vampiro (Ian Hodgkinson)
    10. Papa Shango (Charles Wright)
    11. Goldust (Dustin Runnels)
    12. Kamala (James Harris)
    13. Hayabusa (Eiji Ezaki)

Wonder why Sting didn't make the list. Sure, his surfer dude facepaint wasn't all that intimidating, but when the Crow Sting version hit the ring, it was pretty scary stuff. I still think the Road Warriors were the most intimidating, and not only because of the face paint.

Sting, Muta, and Demolition were all favorites of mine in the old days. Sting was cool all around. Muta wore face paint, wrestled with style and great quickness, and could spray different colors of mist from his mouth at various points in a match. Muta was simply the man. Demolition had the cool theme music, spikes, and face paint. What kid didn't think their attitude made them cool. Plus they performed all of the team double axe-handle smashes. Intimidating isn't the word, but the paint helped make these guys cool.

The Road Warriors would be the most intimidating in the 80s since they didn't sell and rarely lost. Sting would be intimidating in the mid-late 90s when he was hanging out in the rafters. That illusion was shattered when Starcade came around and he fought Hogan. The goofy Wolfpac stuff didn't help either.

Someone should try to pull off a face paint gimmick in the WWE.

Muta was cool because he never wore the same facepaint back to back. He was always changing it around.
