Why didn't they just do something a bit more worthwhile with him?
I think TNA's loss could be WWE's, ROH's or even DGUSA's gain...
ROH wont use him well, bcause he's great on the mic...
from getting jobbed out to Abyss and Rob Terry to get jobbed out to Eddie Edwards and Roderick Strong would be a huge downstep on his career

THE MAN! THE MYTH! THE LEGEND!
ALL TIME FAVORITES:
Stone Cold, DDP, Goldberg, Macho Man, The Rock, Eddie Guerrero, Booker T, "Hollywood" Hogan, Raven, Kevin Nash
CURRENTLY MARKING FOR:
Mr Anderson, Jeff Hardy, James Storm, Brock Lesnar, Austin Aries, MCMG, Kurt Angle, Chris Jericho, Kevin Steen, The Briscoes
the only competition Wrestling needs is the one beetween the Wrestlers, not the companies... if WWE, TNA and ROH could just stop taking shots on each other and fully focus on the growth of their products, that would make a lot of people happy
On his Twitter page, @TheLethalJay, Jay Lethal commented on leaving TNA, saying: "While I am sad that my time with TNA has ended, I am looking forward to this next chapter of my career. Oooooh yeahh! Now taking booking."
TNA could hire him back after a year in the indies, but Lethal shouldn't go back. Head for the WWE and see what happens. DG USA is the best choice for now until he can land a contract with Vince. ROH would be a good choice obviously, but I don't think Lethal will have to wait very long anyway.
All the other long time TNA Originals should take notice that they are probably next.
This is why we still kinda need the territory system back because its great for people like Jay Lethal to succeed in because there be ton of wrestling companies they would be able to go to to get better. But now these days its really only WWE or TNA. If none of them then you can pretty much forget about it.

Yeah Jim Cornette does not like promos he likes pure wrestling and just wrestling no storylines and feuds haha.
Jim Cornette isn't anti-storylines. He's anti-over the top storylines. It's wrestling, not an Oliver Stone movie. Now complex storylines can be okay, but you still need to mix it up with some straight forward stories and matches that don't all end by a run in or silly shenanigans. The problem with TNA is that their complex storylines have too many loose ends and unrealistic parts to them. If you can't get the complex angles mostly right, then you might as well keep it simpler. I'm not even a Cornette fan but I can understand his issues with sports entertainment. ROH has feuds/storylines. They could be better, but they're not making you question the logic all the time.
Jay Lethal is still better off in Dragon Gate so that he can move to WWE quickly without concern over finishing a storyline or having a lot of dates to finish (although ROH does release guys from contracts if they ask).
The word making the rounds is that TNA opted to release Jay Lethal.

Big Lethal fan, but I don't think his absence has made a lick of difference . . .
Nothing has with TNA. They've signed and re-sign guys like Angle, Flair, Hogan, Bischoff, Mick Foley, Sting, RVD, The Hardys, etc, etc and nothing has changed.
Last night’s episode of IMPACT WRESTLING concluded with Hulk Hogan announcing that Mick Foley had been fired as the Network Executive.
Hogan opened up a legal document and said that effective immediately, The Network has exercised the option of terminating said position. He then said to the camera, “Mick Foley, you’re fired!” Hogan’s theme music played and Bischoff said, “This is the happiest day of my life.”
Foley lampooned news of his on-screen firing on Twitter. He wrote, “Wait, I was FIRED?!? Are you CEREAL..I mean SERIOUS?!?”
He added, “Wait, I just checked my DVR and it cut out during Bischoff’s speech. I can’t be fired; I just got back a few weeks ago. Right?”
Foley then teased a possible return to WWE, saying The Miz needs a new assistant (following the dismissal of Alex Riley) and he needs a new job.
He wrote, “Good point @DHStom – I think @mikethemiz might need a new assistant..and I need a new job. Interesting, huh?”
He then retweeted a fan’s comment indicating that he could have appeared at Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s birthday bash rather than return to TNA for a few weeks. It read: “Good thing Mick had to stay around for 3 weeks rather than be at @TheRock ’s bday bash. #baddecisions”
In accordance with the storyline, his profile has been removed from the company website’s roster page. Foley, however, is still under contract to TNA. It expires in early September and he stated during an interview late last year with GeekWeek.com that he doesn’t plan on renewing it. “The Hardcore Legend” said he was frustrated with communication problems inherent in the structure of the organization and that he wasn’t pleased that they didn’t air footage of his appearance at Jon Stewart’s Rally To Restore Sanity at the National Mall in Washington, D.C.

I don't know if he will go back to WWE. It's possible. He was planning a few reality shows that fell through a couple years ago. I think he might do something new.
UPDATE
Barring a dramatic change, Mick Foley's run as television character for TNA Wrestling is over. Though his contract with the organization expires in September, he reportedly asked to be released prematurely due to creative differences as we noted yesterday here on the website.
Foley was removed as on-screen character on last week's episode of IMPACT WRESTLING. The program concluded with Hulk Hogan announcing that Foley had been fired as the Network Executive.
Both sides have been frustrated with each other in recent months. Foley was upset that TNA didn't take interest in promoting his outside projects, while some within the company felt he was difficult to work with. Foley, however, wasn't shy about expressing his disenchantment with the organization.
"The Hardcore Legend" stated during an interview late last year that he didn't plan on renewing his contract when it expired not to mention that he was upset that TNA didn't air footage of his appearance at Jon Stewart's Rally To Restore Sanity at the National Mall in Washington, D.C. Then last month, he took a shot at TNA live event attendance by comparing an "empty arena match" to a TNA house show. He later apologized.
Mick Foley also posted the following via Twitter: "I pushed hard for changes I felt would benefit Impact Wrestling. I can understand how some would interpret that as difficult to work with."

They didn't air the footage of him at Jon Stewart's rally until the last episode of Reaction around 2-3 months after it happened. Foley said it months ago that he wasn't going to renew his contract so I don't see how they didn't see this coming or put him in that position to start with.
