Default FWA Between The Ropes 1: Cameron Cross

Richie Carter: Former X Champion…current North American Champion…creator of ‘that’ shirt…it could only be one man; Cameron Cross.

Welcome to the inaugural edition of FWA Between The Ropes with me; Richie Carter. Before we get started on this first edition let me introduce myself properly, I’m a long time wrestling fan with my interest most held currently by the Fantasy Wrestling Alliance; a once small time wrestling promotion. It’s hard to believe that in just six short years the FWA is regularly getting higher ratings than even the WWE, but a collection of talented wrestlers, amazing matches, enthralling feuds and the obligatory sexuality that is women (talented wrestlers in their own right) in wrestling. Watching those six years pass by has been a joy, with so many legends like Matt Boudreau, Ryan Hall, G-Rich, Ewan Edwards, Shawn Cortez, Stu St.Clair stepping into an FWA ring. Then there’s the game changers like Jillian De Silva, Moira Crawford and Gabrielle Ignito. We’ve seen Lesbianism that could excite the dead, Mile High matches, Trial By Fire matches, hour long classics…it’s been an amazing six years and now heading into the seventh I find myself on the FWA.com payroll.

But enough about me and the FWA as a whole, let’s get to my first guest. Hailing from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and thus a lifetime Steelers fan, he’s also one of the few people in the world it seems to enjoy Americas favourite code of football and New Zealands favourite code of football as well. Proof that we can all just get along…well most of us at least. Camerons rookie year and a half has seen him regularly locked in battle with FWA veteran Alexx. The two have traded victories back and forth though Cam has won the two biggest battles too date; Mile High 2010 for the X Championship and Mile High 2011 for the North American Championship. Its been the start to a career that everyone wishes they could have but only a few ever posses.

Cameron has that drive and determination to succeed at that and that’s what makes the difference. From the day he first stepped foot in CrossFire General Manager G-Rich’s office and was told to “make everyone remember him” he has done exactly that. Men such as Alexx, Xavier Xander Xerxes, Thomas Princeton and even Jack Severino have been bested by the Steeler in All Black. And that last name; Jack Severino may be tied to what some regard as the crowning achievement of his career. Not the Championships, not the amazing matches, not the big wins but rather the relationship he has with Gabrielle. A relationship that’s benefitted his career and his personal life…all because of a T-Shirt. I like many other men and women I’m have spent countless hours pondering how to even get a woman such as her to look my way…I never thought of making up a T-shirt. But that’s why Camerons a 2 time Champion, a star on the rise and involved with one of the most desirable women on the planet.

Now that’s enough of my masterful introduction…let me now welcome the man himself; Cameron Cross…welcome.

Cameron Cross: Thank you Dan…I mean Richie, I’m honoured to be your first geust.

Richie Carter:And hopefully you’re not the last, but I’m sure I’ve got the right first geust to get enough people interested to ensure my job security.

Cameron Cross: You flatter me…but we’ll see.

Richie Carter: I must start by congratulating you on your win at Mile High…that was an amazing match.

Cameron Cross: I just did what I do best.

Richie Carter: Well speaking with a certain Caramel Goddess earlier today she claimed there was something else you did best.

Cameron Cross: Well, I'll leave the explicit details to just us. Don't want to reveal any tricks or secrets now.

Richie Carter: I’ll stop there lest we get distracted by that topic early and try and steer this interview towards your in ring exploits. Firstly X Championship, North American Championship…is the World Championship next?

Cameron Cross: Down the road I'd like to absolutely get in the World Title or FWA Title scene for that matter. But for right now, my focus is more on defending the North American Title and getting better daily.

Richie Carter: Its fair to say that everyone that signs with the FWA from the Matt Boudreaus, to the Gabrielles and even the James Syncs have aspirations of being the World Champion, but few ever get there. What do you feel sets you apart to make this dream potentially become a reality?

Cameron Cross: Heh, I think James Sync only signed to view himself as somewhat, if on a limited basis, relevant and actually good at something...yet we all know better. As for me, the only way the proverbial dream becomes a reality is by working hard to get to it, if you want it bad enough, you work to get it. That's just me..I put in the work and won't stop doing so.

Richie Carter: A lot of people are already anticipating Alexx v Cross for the World Championship, to really complete what has been a rivalry through the ranks. But who would you love to face for the World Championship?

Cameron Cross: Well that would be a nice way to bring the rivalry all the way up through the ranks as you say...but if you're asking for a dream opponent...I'd probably want to be in the Mile High Match with guys like Boudreau, Stu St Clair, Wolf, Drazin, Devin Golden and one of the guys who supported me when I first arrived, Nemesis. But really, it doesn't really matter who I'd face as long as the World Title or maybe the FWA Title was on the line, I'd do whatever it took not only to win, but to give the fans a great show like I always aim to do.

Richie Carter: I mentioned his name earlier…and there’s rumours that you like everyone else in the FWA and in fact the entire wrestling industry have no respect of even tolerance for James Sync. I always enjoy lampooning idiots so is there anything you want to get off your chest?

Cameron Cross: Idiot isn't a strong enough word. I'd like to think of myself as a positive guy a 'glass half full' type if you will. But that clown, or whatever other 'version' of himself he tries to portray, just knaws at me. Because I want new blood to rise, get shots in the FWA, and that waste of space just keeps coming back almost cockroach-like. If he even as much as steps foot in a FWA event again..I'll waste no time in personally ensuring that he doesn't make that mistake again.

Richie Carter: Does a move to Fight Night interest you at all? If not now then maybe sometime in the future?

Cameron Cross: I have enjoyed my time on CrossFire. It's the show I've been on since Day 1. My loyalties are here. If I were to get drafted by Fight Night down the line, then obviously that will change. But even if that were to happen, I'd still always have a special place for the CrossFire brand. But I've been on Fight Night a couple of times, just not in a match.

Richie Carter: Is there anyone you haven’t yet fought that you’d like too both in and out of the FWA?

Cameron Cross: Out of the FWA...James Sync to beat him into a bloody pulp. Ok, ok..in the FWA, I've never faced Stu St Clair nor even teamed with him, same with Drazin. Outside of the FWA seriously this time...a legend that I've looked up to in another company...I'd say I'd want the FWA's NA Champ and People's Champ...go up against THAT company's "People's Champion" that'd be awesome.

Richie Carter: What motivated you to become a wrestler?

Cameron Cross: It was something I've watched since a young boy back home, after I got back home from the military, I just wanted to compete..I'm a competitive person by nature, and just started training and then got a few phone calls about going to certain places to train and learn so it just grew from there.

Richie Carter: So what do you think enough wrasslin related questions? Time to tackle the big 34DD subject?

Cameron Cross: Somehow Richie, I don't think you'll be able to handle that subject. But you can try.

Richie Carter: Good…now as you can see I’m currently wearing one of your infamous T-Shirts. In case anybody doesn’t know about these shirts its basically a polite request for Gabrielle Ignito to show her breasts. A worthy cause if there ever was one…but I have to ask what did you expect to come from this shirt?

Cameron Cross: It was all in good fun, and I was just voicing the opinions of so many fans. So why not I thought.

Richie Carter: And was the motivation as simple as “damn she’s got a great rack, I want to see them”?

Cameron Cross: If you like to think so, sure.

Richie Carter: And the question everybody wanst to know the answer to…well one of them at least; how exactly did Gabrielle take it? Its obvious you two are involved now but how did it go from a cute shirt to unwrapping her on international television on a Christmas special?

Cameron Cross: Gabs was quite flattered and loved it. She could've been a bit taken back by it and found it creepy but nope, exactly the opposite. Lucky for me huh?

Richie Carter: Now the other question everybody wants too know; how are they? I imagine they’re firm yet soft and endlessly squeezable and bouncy, useful as a place to rest your head or in more passionate times bury your head…am I…am I right?

Cameron Cross: I'll just leave you to your imaginations Richie.

Richie Carter: What about her…’lifestyle’ has there ever been another woman involved in your time spent together?

Cameron Cross: Man, I'll bet your next question is can you watch? But hey, once again, I'll let you keep that mind running in its own directions.

Richie Carter: As you can see I could go on and on about this forever but I’m afraid that if I haven’t already that I’ll eventually embarrass myself. But staying with Gabrielle…just what is your relationship considering she’s married to Jenny and reportedly involved with Anthony Jackson and half the women of the FWA?

Cameron Cross: Gabs and I are very close, and become great friends during our time spent on the road. As for all that other stuff, she loves Jenny and I'm ok with that, and the noise about other guys...You tell me ANYONE in the industry guy or girl that is pure and without fault and I'll immediately call b.s.

Richie Carter: What about Chris Kennedy…and Gabrielle’s current condition? We’ve heard her talking about you as a father figure to her child recently, can you actually see yourself filling that role for someone else’s child?

Cameron Cross: I don't concern myself with egomaniacs like him. As for Gabs 'condition' I think it's great that she's having a baby and if she wants me to be a figure or role model, that's fine I'll do whatever is necessary to make Gabs and the baby's life better.

Richie Carter: Well Cameron on that note sadly our time is up. Its been an absolute pleasure speaking with you and picking your brain. I wish you all the best both in your career and in your next night with Gabrielle you lucky SOB.

Cameron Cross: Thanks Richie, by the way congrats to your cousin Dan on the Cup victory. But you just keep that mind of yours spinning.

Richie Carter: I’m Richie Carter, he’s Cameron Cross…stay tuned for next time where my guest could be anyone.

    It was a fun interview.

Anyone who wants their character interviewed by the All Black offspring known as Richie McCaw shoot me a PM or mention it here. I'm hoping to make this a regular thing.
