Default Albums I Think Heavy Metal And Rock Fans Should Check Out

I wanted to start this thread to spread the word on Heavy Metal,Rock,And Blues albums that i own and love very much. I'll try to list at least one a day or so. If you like the album or artist feel free to leave comments. Or haven't heard the albums go check them out and let me know what you think good or bad.
Well the first album up is Diamond Head Lightning To The Nations Release Date 1980
Well I can't lie I discovered Diamond Head thriugh Metallica's Cover Of Am I Evil. So a friend of mine had the the LP or Record for you younger ones out there. This album blew my mind. The music is off the charts and Sean Harris's vocals are some of the best in metal i've ever heard. Now Diamond Head never got there due as far as record sales go. They did sign a major label deal but the magic they achieved with Lightning To The Nations was never to be again. Now not that they didn't do good albums after this release. They just kinda changed there style from this raw sounding recording that was self produced.
Well Let's get to the tracks themselves
Lightning To The Nations (Super Opening track The main riff is awesome but the lyrics and vocals stand out to me)
The Prince (This is my favorite track on the album. This song is haunting the way it's put together shows how tight they were as a band. Also covered by Metallica)
Sucking My Love (The vocals are awesome on this song. But the music flows on this song. This song was also covered by Metallica in there early live shows in San Francisco)
Am I Evil (Best lyrics on the album maybe one of the best main riffs on the album. Metallica did this one to. You see a pattern here)
Sweet And Innocent (Great riff but all the riffs on this album vocals are a stand out here his range on this song is just brilliant)
It's Electric (One of my favorites from this album. Another Metallica Cover song)
Helpless (May be the fastest riff on this album. Need i say another Metallica They kinda lived off this album didn't they)
I didn't list the Bonus Tracks available on the reissue just the original track listing as when i listened to it many years ago. If you don't own this one and are a fan of Heavy Metal you gotta check this out and let me know what you think.
Well I don't know what the next one will be. Post it as soon as i can think of one

I do like this album and own all Machine Head albums. The Blackening was the album where they did distance themselves from that Nu Metal tag that was thrown on them. I hate tags for music. It limits your fanbase. Machine Head are a Heavy Metal band plain and simple. I'm still waiting for Machine Head to have there Master Of Puppets. This was really close.

Next Album I'd like to recommend is UFO Phenomenon. If you want to hear some Guitar chops. Check this album out. I first heard this album when I was ten or so. Well I shouldn't say album it was a cassette. Yes they did actually exist. Well the backdrop of this album is. UFO had recorded two studio albums and one live album before there original guitarest Mick Bolton left the fold. He was replaced by Bernie Marsden for a tour of Europe with the Scorpions in late 1973. There original style was kinda Space Rock mixed with Blues. Well Bernie Marsden who would later resurface in Whitesnake was a no show for a tour date. UFO offered Michael Schenker the chance to fill in and he accepted. After the show they offered him the Guitar spot permanently and again he accepted. He would leave the Scorpions and his brother Rudolph Schenker behind. he was only 19 years old. He would be 20 when Phenomenon was released. The band signed a deal with Chrysalis Records. Chrysalis had introduced them to Leo Lyons former member of Ten Years After and he became the producer for this album. No more back drop you get the point. This album is full of great song writing which in today's music is a lacking trade. If you haven't heard this album. Don't judge it cause it's old. Micheal's Guitar playing would play a heavy roll in the near future. This album as a band not as single people. All the songs have structure and do not all sound the same. I'm gonna stop rambling and give you the track listing
"Too Young to Know" (Pete Way, Phil Mogg) - 3:10
"Crystal Light" (Michael Schenker, Mogg) - 3:47
''Doctor Doctor" (Schenker, Mogg) - 4:10
"Space Child" (Schenker, Mogg) - 4:01
"Rock Bottom" (Schenker, Mogg) - 6:32
"Oh My" (Schenker, Mogg, Way, Andy Parker) - 2:28
"Time on My Hands" (Schenker, Mogg) - 4:10
"Built for Comfort" (Willie Dixon) - 3:01
"Lipstick Traces" (Schenker) - 2:20 (instrumental)
"Queen of the Deep" (Schenker, Mogg) - 5:49
Give This a listen. Let me know what you think

Gonna recommend another one. Next up is Corrosion Of Conformity In The Arms Of The Lord Released 2005
This was COC's seventh studio album and the first to not feature original drummer Reed Mullin. Reed has since came back to the fold. COC have went back to the original 3 piece lineup. But i hope theres another with Pepper Keenan in the future cause they got another great album left in them for sure. Now lets get to this album. When I purchased this CD I didn't know what to expect. But it blew my mind on the first listen and has stayed in the regular rotation ever since. This IMO was a diamond in the rough. One of the finest Metal releases of the last 10 years. If you haven't heard this and are a metal fan you should. If you like Black Sabbath And Down check this out. Well I'm going to leave you on this. Lieten to this if you haven't and let me know what you think. Here's the track listing
All lyrics by Pepper Keenan except where noted. All music by Corrosion Of Conformity except where noted.

    1. "Stonebreaker" – 5:16
    2. "Paranoid Opioid" – 6:30
    3. "It Is That Way" – 5:17
    4. "Dirty Hands Empty Pockets / Already Gone" – 4:51
    5. "Rise River Rise" (music: COC/John Custer) – 5:06
    6. "Never Turns to More" – 8:15
    7. "Infinite War" (lyrics: Pepper Keenan/Mike Dean) – 3:46
    8. "So Much Left Behind" – 5:18
    9. "The Backslider" – 6:29
    10. "World on Fire" (music: COC/John Custer) – 4:01
    11. "Crown of Thorns" (music: COC/John Custer) – 2:33
    12. "In the Arms of God" – 6:55
    Enjoy

Just wanted to add a couple more releases to this list.I'm not gonna do the long reviews of these releases. The first one up is Graveyard Hisingen Blues. This was released early this year. Great band from Sweden. If you like old school heavy metal like Black Sabbath. You should check this one out. This is there second full release. The second is in the same style as the first old school Heavy Metal. Here it is the self titled first release by Witch. Great band that features J Mascis from Dinasaur Jr. He doesn't play guitar in this band. He's on drums. So check these out let me know what you think

I'm gonna add two albums by one band. The band is Black Country Communion. This is a great band made up of veteran musicians. originally just a project between Glenn Hughes and Joe Bonamassa. Producer Kevin Shirley suggested Jason Bonham. They added Derek Sherinian on Keyboards and the lineup was solid. The first album was released in 2010 and there second release came out this year. If don't know this band you should if your a fan of rock, metal, and blues. Joe Bonamassa is one of the greatest guitar players around today. Glenn Hughes has one of the greatest voices in rock ever. Needless to say he's a great bass player. Jason Bonham son of John Bonham of Led Zeppelin. One of the best drummers around. Derek Sherinian great keyboard player. Throw them all together and have a Super Group. But if have not heard these two releases check them out. Here's the albums
Black Country Communion Black Country 2010
    Black Country Communion 2 2011
    Enjoy

I hope someone comes to this thread and maybe discovers a artist they never heard before and goes and checks them out. I'll keep throwing albums up here when i can. If anybody out there wants to add a Metal,Rock,or Blues album feel free. Trust me if you like someone else out here will find it cool. I'm gonna add some more. So here they are
Mother Love Bone Apple (This is a great album. If you don't know this band was pre Pearl Jam. Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament were in this band. Andrew Wood would die of a drug overdose before this was released. Andrew wood was good friends with Chris Cornell who had wrote two songs for his late friend Reach Down And Say Hello 2 Heaven and arranged to put together a band to play them. This would become Temple Of The Dog. This is where Stone and Jeff met Mike McCready and Eddie Vedder and Pearl Jam was born. Check this album out. Very different than Pearl Jam's style but worth a listen Andrew Wood was a Awesome singer and songwriter)
3 Doors Down Seventeen Days (I was passed along this by a friend. I knew 3 Doors Down. But this is a great album. Worth a listen if you haven't heard it. I know it's a more popular artist, But 3 Doors Down do write good songs though.)
Joe Bonamassa A New Day Yesterday (One of my favourite guitar players of all time. If you haven't heard this guy and are a fan of guitar. This is the album to discover him first. I'll leave it at that)
Sorry i didn't list the tracks to these albums. Check this out. Enjoy

I wanted to add some more. Hopefully you own them or will check these out.
Joe Cocker The Anthology 2 cds 2000 (This is a great compilation to any fan looking to discover his career in music. If you ever wanted to check out Joe Cocker. Check this out)
AC-DC Black Ice 2008 ( I was really surprised by this album. But it's a great offering from older band. Favorite track Stormy May Day)
ZZ Top Mescalero 2003 ( Highly under rated album by the old school band. Give this one a chance. It's worth a listen)
7th Reign 7th Reign 2007 ( This is a great band from Toronto,Canada. If your fan of early Dream Theater. You'll like this Debut CD)
Soulfly Soulfly 1998 ( Great debut CD from Max Cavalera's post Sepultura band.)
Zakk Wylde Book Of Shadows 1996 ( Great acoustic style album from Zakk. Great guitar player. Check this out if you haven't)
Well that's a couple more to the list Enjoy

Thanks for adding this album. I actually have owned this album for a long time. Metal Church was a highly underrated band, This was the late David Wayne's finest vocal performance with the band. Could have been Metallica but didn't get the backing of the label the way Metallica did. I like there self titled debut as well. But this one would be a little heavier than there debut. Thanks for making me dig this one out and listen to it. It had been awhile since i heard it

Well gonna add some more so check these out. Here they are
Kreator Endless Pain-Flag Of Hate (This was there debut. But this release is the reissue from 1989 that includes the Flag Of Hate EP. Great Thrash album in it's earliest form. This is the German Slayer. If you like early Slayer like the Hell Awaits album you'll dig this)
Bait Cain-Dis-Able 2004 (This is an indy band from Oklahoma. Kinda in the style of newer Staind. This is a great album though the production could have been better. But it's worth a listen if you can track it down. Hopefully you'll be able to)
CKY Infiltrate-Destroy-Rebuild (This is there second album. This album grew on me after a couple of listens. It has some great songs)
Yes Classic Yes (This is a best of compilation. But it's a good introduction to Yes's output of music in the seventies. If you don't own a Yes album and want to check them out. This is a good album to start with)
Little Feat Dixie Chicken 1973 (This is the first album I heard by this band. This is a great album. One of the most diverse bands ever. They differ in styles on this album from Blues Rock to old R&B. If you never heard this check this out)
Well that's all for now Enjoy
