    Default Rumble Theories

Majority of the time, a performer on the cusp of getting a major title push gets the nod to win the Rumble. I wondered what you all thought this years Rumble brings - potential winners, any minor/major storylines within the match, surprises, etc.

I like Cody Rhodes winning in terms of keeping that push going and broadening horizons for a worker I think is quite World Title caliber already. Wade Barrett I give a second place but see him winning a WrestleMania Money in the Bank type match to stretch his push out to a pending title reign. He's very mic ready, but I like Rhodes first.

A crazy Rumble theory I conceived a couples days back was The Rock winning. Talk about surprise- and if you remember, the original challenge for Cena vs. Rock was Cena saying he'd keep his WWE title until WM to make it a title match. Rock wins Rumble, Cena wins Elimination Chamber, Punk feuds with Jericho, yay for World Title matches. Much to my own chagrin of having Punk drop the belt and having Cena notch another World Title reign, I think it makes sense - ratings have been declining, no solid programs at the moment.

As for surprises, Undertaker. Not so much as an entrant but a gut feeling tells me they'll do Kane and him again at WrestleMania a third time so why not have him confront everyone's favorite masked Kane-a-nite at the Rumble?

    All about star power.

Ziggler is destined for a title run at this point, I think we'll see him with a World Heavy strap this calender year.

Pretty sure Jericho and Orton if fit are the favourites.

Niether Sheamus nor Barrett would surprise me though.

Would like Cody and Goldust feud to really kick into gear during the Rumble match and also Kofi and Bourne to fight during the rumble leading to one of them walking out of their next title defence.

As much as I would like to see Kofi vs. Bourne it'd be lame. Why? Because that is what the WWE does all the time when they want to have a tag team lose the titles. I think they should actually have them lose the titles though. Because I don't think either of them could pull off a heel role, which would happen if one of them walked out of a tag match.

As for Barrett or Sheamus winning I could actually see that. Barrett has been getting a monstrous push which is good, and I think that he deserves it. But I think that even if Orton isn't in the match he will come out and cost Barrett setting up a match for Mania.

I like Barrett winning the Rumble but a WM match with Orton better. It may be something we may have seen before, but it's a solid addition to what I think will be a stellar WM card this year (potentially).

As for Kofi and Bourne, if they kept them both face, titles or no and dedicated a good month to it, I think it could work. Great tag-teams can also put on matches with one another. Have them do a fun match vs. each other and then rise the competitive spirit by putting them in a series of one on one affairs. Split the crowd without having to shove one partner turning on the other (Truth and Miz) and still put on good content in your under-card.

^I agree with you. But knowing the WWE they would make the team split. They have done it many times with teams lately. When I say lately I mean the past 5-10 years. You had Duece and Domino for example. Also I guess you could say R-Truth and The Miz, and many more. The WWE seems to forget that if you have a tag team one of them can breakout as a singles star, but yet they can stay as a team. I just hope that if/when Kofi and Bourne lose the titles that they don't break them up right away.

Can see where you're coming from but I still see Bourne and Kofi as singles guys working tag teams to effectively fill a gap atm.

Kofi has been stuck against the proverbial glass ceiling and I'd quite like to see if a heel turn could help him smash through it. Doesn't have to turn straight away per se. Just the team having issues would work to get them a match with each other at Wrestlemania where Kofi turns and it leads to a grudge match at Extreme Rules where the two of them would hopefully be able to really get the shackles off.

Regarding Barrett I still have a feeling they're building him up with the Barrett Barrage to get him a big enough push to challenge The Undertaker. It was the Barrett led Nexus who cost Taker against Kane and it's not been mentioned since. I hate un finished angles and figure what better way to give Wade a huge spotlight than against The Undertaker at Wrestlemania.
