Jeff Hardy Talks Overcoming his Personal Demons

The Miami Herald interviewed current TNA star Jeff Hardy where he talks about his past issues and overcoming his demons. Below are the highlights:
How his problems started: “I really believe that people learn from examples and through problems themselves. OK, my brother [Matt] and myself, for example, we never drank. We never did drugs. Nothing. I was 21, 22, when I started drinking beer, in wrestling, and then it escalated.
“It’s easy to do. It’s easy to get addicted, but if you never start, you’ll never have to stop. That’s the best advice I can give anybody. I’m back to a place now where I was before, where I don’t need a pill to go paint a canvas. That’s my new fix is doing it again. It took a while to get there, but I’m here, and I’m a father now as well. That’s another huge inspiration in my life.”
How he overcame his demons: “”I’ve got my hardcore fans and I thank them so much for being there for me and not giving up on me… You look back and you go, ‘Why was I doing what I was doing?’ It takes a while, but after when you do sober up and months go by, you kind of look back. I was lost. I was like, ‘What the he## was I doing?’
“It’s crazy. Early remission was a great gift for me, and then it’s just been steady climbing. So the best advice to kids is do what you love. Also, never start [alcohol, drugs], and you’ll never have to stop.”
Being in TNA: “Everybody here in TNA, there’s so much talent here, and I’m so excited where these guys are going to go in the next 20 years. I’m thrilled to be able to help them now while I’m still good at my game. The future’s exciting, and it’s been great.”
Matt Hardy’s recent issues: “Through everything that has happened recently, to see Matt now, I think he’s doing really well… Myself, Matt and my dad, there’s a bond there that should be stronger than anything, and to me it is. Hopefully Matt can think more along the lines of how special our dad is and just cherish every moment he is here with us, because he will be gone one day. Every daughter should, every son should care about their loved ones.”
I get they are trying to make this big "comeback" story for him but I'm sorry, he's screwed up so many times throughout his career that he needs to show a heavy length of longevity for those who aren't already diehard fans of his to not have their guard up & wait for him to fail again.

I was such a huge fan of his. I still do like him, but he has a lot of proving to do. I'm not waiting for him to fail, tho sadly I wouldn't be at all surprised if he does.
Honestly, he's screwed up so many times I don't want to hear about it anymore. I don't wanna hear how he's doing. Start showing it
and maybe after a couple of years, not months, I'll have some faith in him again.
Jeff and Matt obviously have weak personalities. I personally have broken my leg and needed surgery to put my knee back together, was put on painkillers, and 2 months later I've weaned myself off of them. I've drank everyday, maybe not as much as them and can CHOOSE to stop. I've done drugs, but CHOSE to stop. The fact is people keep making excuses for their relapses (and addiction) and the fact is it isn't as hard as people make out to be to quit doing shit. Just need friends and family if it TRULY gets that bad. I personally dig Jeffs gimmick, not as big a fan of his work though (I must admit I haven't watched TNA in a while) and people should look past his personal life and just watch his work life
people should look past his personal life and just watch his work life
That can't be the case when his "personal life" effects his work life which has happened so many times & in the case of recent months, himself & the company put his personal life out there to try to make a profit off it.
