Ever notice that all new laptops have cameras built into them? You won't find any that don't have them built in (maybe some netbooks, but those usually aren't going to have as much hard drive space and ram). It's as if we're all supposed to be addicted to Skype and want to constantly share pictures and films online. No thanks. Seems like just another way to get people used to the idea that cameras are constantly pointed at them.
Just a few years ago, people had to use an actual stand-alone camera to take pictures, and they couldn't be secretive about it. Now, people can take your picture whenever they want and there isn't a flash to let you know. People can just lift up their cell phones.
Maybe there isn't much privacy left anymore. Make sure you're not wearing that crazy sweater that you only wear because it was a gift.
It's the godamn MAN, keeping his eyes on us all the time, man!

Reminds me of when me and some mates went to a gig in London and attracted a random on the tube. Long story short he tagged along with us to the pub asking random questions and suggesting he moves to any place name mentioned.
After emptying his briefcase and showing numerous paperwork detailing exam results from school through university we left the pub with him in tow when suddenly he ran into Sainsburys and hid behind the wall.
He eventually ventured out shielding his face with his case and explained that the tall buildings all had cameras on them which were being monitored by the government who were trying to recruit him to join MI5.....

Not really, I'd say its just technology advancing.
Wrong. Just a few years ago you could still use a camera phone. Over here back in 2003, the first camera phone came out which was the Sharp GX10I.

The first half may be conspiracy, but the second half is a pretty fair warning to keep your nose clean in public. As soon as you do something to draw attention to yourself, some geek could start filming it and put it on YouTube.

Advancing technology yes, but not everyone wants certain things built into their stuff. I don't have GPS navigation in my car, but I imagine that I won't have a choice but to have it the next time I buy a car. I still won't want it then. I can read maps and figure things out without it.

The first camera phones were pretty expensive though, and they weren't as commonly used as they are now.
I had enough people take unwanted pictures of me on the subway or where ever back in the early 2000s to know that people still regularly used standalone cameras (digital and disposable) with flash bulbs.
Well remember you don't really have a choice and technology in my eyes has not advanced for the public, posting a photo in 5 seconds is not my idea of advancing technology. But you know there are always ways to blind eyes that have no business watching you;D.

I don't want to buy a computer and butcher it. Oh well, can disable it a better way.
LOL. Hurl flash powder at everyone everywhere at all times.

LOL you would be surprised at the stuff that you can sometimes come across when butchering a computer. I for one avoid the ones with built in microphones especially.

You're not being forced to use these things though. No ones telling you 'use the camera on your computer x amount of times a day' or 'drive x amount of miles using the GPS built into your vehicle' etc. My Mac has a camera built into it but I never feel the need to use it unless I'm changing the profile pic for my computer account.
From what I can remember, they were pretty popular when they were released. Putting a camera into a cellphone, who wouldn't want one of those, despite the price? Same thing with flat screen TVs when they were first introduced. They were in the high thousands yet there was still a high demand for them. As technology advances, people will still be willing to pay high amounts for whatever comes out. Apple introduced the iPhone4S recently which can talk to you. It had people lining up in the early hours of the morning to get one, those same people most likely had an iPhone4 as well which was basically the same minus the talking feature called Siri. Even today, I bought an iPhone4S for just over $1000 which goes to show that even if the price is high, there will still be paying customers.
No one uses a disposable camera nowadays, its all digital or cellphone.

It's such a shame that people are so obsessed with Twitter/Facebook/YouTube. I, personally, hate YouTube for its home videos that are made and distributed because they're such crap and not even needed, and just features people wanting their 5 minutes of fame. Pathetic.

You'd be surprised. I work in the photo lab at work sometimes and we get film daily, I think the most I've seen was 17 in one day. It's actually quite enjoyable to develop.
"We’re fighting because Anderson doesn’t want to fight me. Anderson trained with Munoz, he got destroyed by Munoz, he doesn’t want to fight Mark. Ed Soares, Anderson’s manager, worked diligently behind the scenes to make Mark and I fight each other. So I don’t have a big problem fighting Mark. my resentment is that Anderson got his way.”
