Is it just me or is everyone sick of the face mentally challenged gimmick?? We have went from Team Canada tag team Eric Young and Bobby Roode to Eric Young being paranoia about being fired to feuding with Bobby and James Storm to horrible Super Eric to Eric Young in Frontline to Eric Young leader of World Elite (which to me was great) to Eric Young in the band to idk whatever Orlando Jordan and him was/mentally challenged. With all of that said the World Elite Eric Young was the best gimmick he has had in his TNA career, he really came out in the group. To me Eric Young is too talented to feuding with Winter and Angelina Love with ODB. He should be in the main event scene as a heel fighting for the World Title or TV Title as a heel being the guy to make the TV title mean something for once. The way I would do it is for him to be looking back at his career then realize the people that he build TNA with are all in the world title/main event scene and makes him feel like he is sh**. So he trys to fight his way up as the nice guy and it doesn't work he keeps losing time after time and he starts to get frustrated to the point where he snaps and goes on a big rage. He gets the TV title and has a long reign as the tv champion then fights his way to the main event scene. In time maybe put together a new World Elite with him leading it with these members:
Leader(s): Eric Young and Magnus
Members: Doug Williams, Mark Haskins, Winter
These next members for the group were in a tryout for TNA this past weekend and one of them are really good friends with Magnus. Marty Scurll was the one who had a tryout this past weekend and good friend Magnus, he is in a very popular British tag team with Zack Sabre Jr so maybe TNA cold sign them for the group.
That is just my opinion of Eric Young and the way I would book him to get back to the top of TNA as a heel you don't have to agree with it. What way would you do it or would you just leave him as a face?
It seams like TNA uses him to much as a comedy act witch i don't really like. I also don't think feuding with the knockouts is much of a role. He should be doing something that gets him a title of some sort i just don't like what they got going on with him right now.
He is the resident comedy act & is in the same veign as those like Santino Marella where it's not a gimmick that will get him to main events but it's one that will always have him find TV time & something to do. I find him funny from time to time based off what he's doing like I laugh at him & O.D.B. in a relationship and that time he kept hanging around Immortal acting like he was part of the group with the title they threw in the trash can but I couldn't stand him doing the Scott Baio & Jersey Shore stuff. While I liked the idea of "World Elite" being a bunch of international heels but he was pretty much the same guy only wearing a suit & clean shaven because he always got his ass kicked by whoever he was facing (Hernandez & even that one match against Hamada) & talked tough but just came off as a poor man's Chris Jericho in my eyes & did the same thing he did as goofy Eric in that he was a champion who never defeneded his title...if it wasn't for British Invasion, that faction would have been a joke.
If they don't do something with Eric Young soon than I think they just need to release him, it seems like they are just keeping him because he is an TNA original. I mean they could have him team with someone like Anderson, Pope, Gunner, or Garett Bischoff just someone to let him mean something to TNA again.
EY is perfect in his current role, and I think pairing him with ODB is a great move. I always find myself laughing and having fun with his antics. Not all wrestlers need to try to be the stoic serious type, and EY is at his best when he is being zany.
Eric Young is actually one of my favorite people in TNA. Just sucks that they haven't been using him the way he should be used. Like Brad said when he was in World Elite he was great. He was the standout from the group, but then it ended and everything seemed to end for him now. Now that he is a comedy wrestler he is on TV which isn't bad but to me it seems like he is being wasted. Fighting women just seems so second class for him I guess. Just wish he was able to be somewhere around a title now.
I love the goofy angle - even though i haven't really seen him be anything but goofy. I'm not that old school i guess - i started following when hogan started yet i watched on and off in the past.
They could put an end to his current gimmick at any time, as I recall it "happened" when he took a bad fall and banged his head (I think it was an Xplosion match with Suicide) so he could get "better" anytime
The problem is crowds love his current stuff but I agree with everyone else, his World Elite persona was the best I've seen from EY, I was sick of the sight of him up until then and was amazed at how well he played the heel role

I agree the guy is over as both a comedy act or playing a straight guy. I remember when they got rid of the mental gimick and when the fans were cheering his name in front of Hogan. He can do either and that may be a curse to him because if creative is stubbed they don't have to work too hard to give him anything because he is over. That's why I think he got the crazy gimick back because they ran out of ideas. I was disappointed but I found myself into the whole locking up with referees and teaming with ODB. The only way that gimick will go away is if they decide to be a wrestling company and not an entertainment company. He got the the world elite gimick around the time they started pushing wrestling more but got it back around the time of the Hogan and Bischoff additude era stuff.

We've been saying this for a long time in our house - all it would take would be for him to be dropped on his head again! I don't like his current persona at all. It's not particularly funny and I think "insane" gimmicks are a bit tasteless anyway. When I first started watching TNA just over 3 years ago, I was struck by how physically strong he seemed to be, without the writers ever making a very big deal of it - he had both the Guns on his shoulders one time and another time that huge bodyguard who hung around with the MEM - he could have had a good storyline of the underdog who turned out to be really strong and took on bullies (a bit like Shane Sewell, but without the stripes!) and the other idea I had for him at that time is that he could have teamed up with Matt Morgan, since they both seemed to have a running storyline of not being able to get anyone to take them seriously. It's definitely time for a change. Let him "recover", clean up his look and do something impressive for a change!
Some people are just not top guys and he is one of them. He does have a place on the roster as some comic relief but he can also play a seriously style character. However, he just is not good enough, or have enough size to be seriously considered a top guy by majority of the audience
I do find the ODB/EY relationship to be entertaining and they can go many ways with it.
