ya i agree but i dont make the news just report it

according to Kevin Dupont of the Boston Globe, there have been rumblings that "had the Bruins dishing Tim Thomas to Chicago."
According to the source, the Blackhawks were to give Viktor Stalberg in return.

Viktor Stalberg for Tim Thomas? Absolute steal for the Bruins.

ahh lmao
i think it would need to be stalberg and some picks

Yeah, no way it goes for Thomas and picks unless it's like their next five first round picks.
Boston has no reason at all to trade Thomas, unless they're getting something huge for him, perhaps with Hossa involved or something, but Stalberg and picks, no matter how high or how many, ain't gonna do it....

thomas is old broski boston would be smart to trade him

Not for Stalberg they wouldn't be. If they can get someone big for him then sure, they have Rask who is more than ready to take over, but at the same time there's no point at all in just giving him away...

well no but i think they should trade him this season

ryan smyth oilers
Larry Brooks of the New York Post reports a “well-placed source” claims Edmonton winger Ryan Smyth is entertaining the idea of waiving his no-trade clause to join the Rangers.
Smyth, who’ll turn 36 on Feb. 21, has enjoyed a solid campaign for Edmonton after requesting a trade out of Los Angeles, scoring 16 goals while averaging a shade under 20 minutes a game. He’s one of four Oilers to play all 51 games this year, leading the team in even-strength goals while ranking third in power-play markers.
Smyth also has some ties to the Rangers organization. New York general manager Glen Sather drafted him sixth overall at the 1994 draft while serving as Oilers GM (according to Brooks, the two have maintained a “good relationship,”) — Smyth also played alongside Rangers center Brad Richards on the Canadian team at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino.
So, are the Rangers interested in Smyth? You’d have to think Sather would at least kick his tires — New York is reportedly in the market for a winger (also, a defenseman) and Smyth’s gritty net-front presence would probably help out the anemic power play (the Rangers have the league’s fifth-worst PP.)
The issue, of course, would be if New York could fit Smyth in under the cap — he’s in the final year of a deal that pays him $6.25 million annually. The Rangers did make an interesting move today by shipping out Erik Christensen (and his $925,000 deal) to Minnesota, which could be a precursor to a larger mov

Make or Break Stretch
Before losing to the Jets in overtime Thursday night, the Tampa Bay Lightning had pulled off five straight wins. With their recent strong play, the Lightning have possibly moved into the playoff hunt. Damian Cristodero of the Tampa Bay Times reports GM Steve Yzerman could determine whether he'll be a buyer or seller at the Trade Deadline based on how his team plays in the next five games or so.
Cristodero also reports D Pavel Kubina and LW Ryan Malone, both of whom have been rumoured to be possible trade pieces, haven't been asked to waive their no-trade clauses.
Spending for Scoring
Mac Engel of the Star-Telegram sat down with new Dallas Stars owner Tom Gaglardi to get his thoughts on the team's possible moves approaching the trade deadline. Engel reports Gaglardi knows the Stars need more scoring and he's willing to spend to get it, leaving GM Joe Nieuwendyk with the task of going out and finding it.
Sticking with the Stars, Mike Heika of the Dallas News reports that unless Nieuwendyk gets an offer that blows him away, he could keep D Nicklas Grossman for the rest of the year, and then move his rights in the off-season.
Contract Talks
On pace to put up the best numbers of his career this year, Minnesota Wild centre Kyle Brodziak is in line for a raise come contract negotiation time. Michael Russo of the Star Tribune reports those talks could happen soon. Russo also said it's unlikely that the Wild will move Brodziak before this year's Trade Deadline, but could in the off-season if they decide to shake things up.
Looking Up Front?
While it's been reported the Boston Bruins are likely in the market to rent a veteran defencemen this year, the team could also trade for a veteran forward. Stephen Harris of the Boston Herald reports that with the uncertainty surrounding Nathan Horton's injury, the team could use another forward such as the Coyotes' Ray Whitney or the Hurricanes' Tuomo Ruutu.
Time to Make a Splash?
The San Jose Sharks will once again be in the "buyer" category leading up to the Trade Deadline, and Ray Ratto of CSNBayArea says the team needs to make more of a splash this year to keep up with the teams at the very top of each conference. Ratto examines some of the names that could be on the market for the Sharks to target as well as which players the Sharks could ship out to make those deals happen.

With the NHL Trade Deadline only weeks away, teams are making decisions on whether to buy or sell and deciding which players can make the biggest difference or hold the greatest value.
Check out today's trade rumours and speculation from around the NHL beat. And follow TSN.ca each day until Deadline Day for all the updates.
The Great Eight
TSN Insider Darren Dreger says that Sam Gagner's value likely increased after his eight-point outburst Thursday night. However, the Oilers still have not decided how they will proceed with the 22-year old forward, leaving his availability on the trade market still in question. Meanwhile, the Oilers are still likely to move forward Ales Hemsky, according to Dreger.
Looking at Leafs?
The Los Angeles Kings are searching for a top-six forward and have been linked to Hemsky. But Dreger also reported that they have interest in a pair of Toronto Maple Leafs wingers - Nikolai Kulemin and Clarke MacArthur - and that the two teams have been scouting each other's games of late. He did clarify, however, that no deal was imminent on any front for the Maple Leafs.
Forward Thinking
During the first intermission of Friday's NHL on TSN broadcast, Insider Darren Dreger spoke about the Calgary Flames being one of the teams interested in Blue Jackets' centre Jeff Carter. Dreger noted that the biggest hurdle to any deal would be financial, where the Flames already have big money locked up in Jarome Iginla, Jay Bouwmeester, Mike Cammalleri and Miikka Kiprusoff.
NHL analyst Keith Jones said that Sabres' centre Derek Roy, who only has one-year left on his contract after this season, would likely be a better fit for the Flames, not only because Carter has 10 years left on his deal, but because Roy is a pass first player, as opposed to Carter who is a shoot first player.
Kevin Knows Best
While the Winnipeg Jets have remained silent for the most part with regards to their plans with regards to the trade deadline, head coach Claude Noel shared some thoughts with The Globe and Mail's Paul Waldie before the Jets 2-1 overtime loss to the Florida Panthers on Friday.
Noel said that while he's had a few discussions with general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff about personnel, he will not have an active role in player moves.
"I don't really have a real say," Noel told the Globe. "I've learned before just through experience that my place is to coach the team that I have."
Dallas Dilemma
The saga of the 'is he or isn't he on the market' for Dallas Stars forward Brenden Morrow took another turn late Friday when the team placed him on the injured reserve.
According to Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News, Morrow was bothered by neck pain before playing in back-to-back to games on Wednesday and Thursday. Morrow also acknowledged that he might have surgery in the off-season to fix the issue.
The 33-year-old did state that he has heard about the rumours about his status, but hasn't been asked to waive his no-trade clause.
Help Wanted
Chicago Blackhawks general manager Stan Bowman is likely looking for help but told the Chicago Sun-Times that there was no help on the horizon. The Sun-Times speculated that Bowman had interest in Anaheim's Francois Beauchemin and Carolina's Tim Gleason, but both have signed extensions with their club rendering them unavailable via trade.
Smytty Staying Put?
Oilers forward Ryan Smyth was surprised to hear his name in trade rumours coming out of New York on Friday. After confirming he had not been approached about a trade by Oilers management, he reiterated his desire to stay in Edmonton.
