The Flyers on Thursday traded defenseman Kevin Marshall to the Washington Capitals for right wing Matt Ford.

Ford is expected to head directly to the Adirondack Phantoms. At 27, he has yet to play a game in the NHL. He has appeared in 39 games for the Caps’ AHL affiliate Hershey Bears this season, posting 10 goals and 18 assists. Last year, with the AHL’s Lake Erie Monsters, Ford had a career-best season, netting 26 goals (42 points).

Marshall played 10 games for the Flyers this season, finishing with eight penalty minutes and a minus-1 rating. He will likely head to the Bears. Marshall is in the last year of his entry-level contract.
