Holzapfel was a second-round pick of the Atlanta Thrashers in 2006.

The Montreal Canadiens acquired a familiar name in a trade that has defenceman Hal Gill going to the Nashville Predators on Friday.
As part of the deal, the club acquired forward Blake Geoffrion - son of former Canadien Danny Geoffrion, grandson of Habs great Bernie Geoffrion and great-grandson of Montreal legend Howie Morenz.
The Canadiens also sent a conditional fifth-round pick in 2013 to Nashville in the deal and acquired forward Robert Slaney and a second-round draft pick in 2012.
The Predators will get the fifth-round pick if Geoffrion plays at least 40 games with the Canadiens next season.
Gill, who has spent the last three seasons with Montreal, will be an unrestricted free agent after signing a one-year deal worth $2.25 million in the off-season.
"His leadership and commitment were much appreciated," said Canadiens GM Pierre Gauthier in a statement. "I wish him the best of luck with his new team. We are also very pleased to have acquired a second-round draft selection in 2012 and two young prospects for our organization. We look forward to working together with Blake Geoffrion and Robert Slaney to continue their progression."
Originally drafted in the eighth round by the Boston Bruins at the 1993 NHL Entry Draft, Gill's size has made him a coveted stay-at-home presence throughout his 13-year career.
Gill, 36, has played with the Bruins, Maple Leafs, Penguins and Canadiens throughout his career, winning the Stanley Cup with Pittsburgh in 2009.
Geoffrion, 24, has three assists in 22 NHL games this season.
"Wow..what a day," he tweeted on Friday afternoon. "It's bitter sweet, going to miss my hometown of Nashville, but going to where it all started with my family...MONTREAL!!!"

Ah, first "big" trade in quite awhile. Good pick up for Nashville, if they can resign Gill, and Montreal gets some potentially solid prospects.
And does this mean the Predators are trying to fill a gap in defense and are going to trade either Suter or Weber?
-
thats what im thinking..maybe suter going or it could be just a depth deal for the playoffs
-
Yeah, possibly. Have to wait and see.
-
still first big deal so it oculd start that domino effect ive been waiting for

Sources tell TSN that the Tampa Bay Lightning have traded defenceman Pavel Kubina to the Philadelphia Flyers for second and fourth-round draft picks.
A steady two-way presence on the back-end, Kubina has played with the Lightning (twice), Toronto Maple Leafs and Atlanta Thrashers throughout his career.
Named to the NHL All-Star Game in 2003-04, Kubina would win the Stanley Cup with the Lightning that same season.
Kubina is in the final year of a two-year contract he signed with the Lightning in 2010 with an annual average value of $3.85 million. He will become an unrestricted free agent after this season.
Kubina was held off the ice this week by the Lightning while they tried to deal him. Tampa GM Steve Yzerman asked him for a list of five teams that Kubina would allow a trade to, as per the defenceman's no-trade clause.

Knew he would be gone soon. Good addition to the Flyers who needed a d-man, curious as to what they gave up though, probably not a lot.

prob at least a first round pick

I'd say it's probably only a second, unless there's prospects involved.
EDIT: Apparently it's a 2nd and a 5th round pick.

The Detroit Red Wings' search for defensive help has brought Kyle Quincey back to where he started his NHL career.
The Wings acquired defenseman Kyle Quincey from the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday in a three-way trade. The Lightning, run by former Wings star Steve Yzerman, acquired Quincey from Colorado earlier in the day for forward Steve Downie, then shipped him to Detroit for the Wings' first-round pick in the 2012 NHL Draft and minor-league defenseman Sebastien Piche.

Quincey, 26, is expected to be in the lineup Thursday when the Wings take their NHL-record 23-game home winning streak into a matchup against the Vancouver Canucks.
"We like the addition of Quincey," general manager Ken Holland told the Detroit Free Press. "He's a guy who can play 20 minutes a night, he can play right defense, left defense, he can play in all situations. He can man a point on the second power-play unit. We believe this makes us deeper for the playoffs, and he's not a rental."
Quincey is returning to the team with which he began his NHL career. The Wings took him with the 132nd pick in the 2003 NHL Draft. He saw limited playing time and was lost on waivers to Los Angeles before the 2008-09 season The Kings traded him to Colorado in July 2010 as part of the package that sent Ryan Smyth to Edmonton.
The 6-foot-2, 202-pounder had five goals and 18 assists in 54 games with the Avs this season after missing most of last season with a shoulder injury.
The Wings have been looking for more toughness on the blue line. They signed veteran Mike Commodore last summer, but he hasn't been able to earn a regular berth. Rookie Jakub Kindl got off to a good start but has struggled during the past month.
It was the third trade in less than a week by the Lightning, who dealt center Dominic Moore to San Jose on Thursday and sent defenseman Pavel Kubina to Philadelphia.
Downie, 24, can become a restricted free agent this summer. He's in the final year of a two-year, $3.7 million deal and has 12 goals, 16 assists and 121 penalty minutes in 55 games this season.
"Our organization believes that Steve Downie will add grit and skill to our lineup offensively," Avalanche GM Greg Sherman said in a statement. "He plays the game with an edge and we look forward to seeing the immediate and future impact he can bring to our team."
The Lightning now have two first-round picks in 2012 along with a minimum of three selections in the second round.
Piche, 6-foot, 202 pounds, has played in 42 career AHL games with the Grand Rapids Griffins, recording five assists. This season he has played in 22 games, notching three assists. Piche signed with the Red Wings as a free agent on April 12, 2009.
