Default HHH decided Sheamus Should Win The Rumble

Chris Jericho was pegged to win this year's 30-Man Royal Rumble Match, but Triple H, who has gained even more influence behind the scenes, called for Sheamus to be the decided winner. The final decision was made last week.

The two have been friends since the Irish grappler's promotion to the main roster in the summer of 2009 as the two workout together on the road. In a subsequent interview with Power Slam, he singled out the Celtic Warrior as a wrestler with potential.

Triple H said, "The closest to me is probably Sheamus, because we always train together on the road. But I try to watch all the young guys' matches and give them advice, if they want to hear it. If they take advice to heart and really want to improve, then I'm wanting to help. As for seeing some of myself in someone? That's tough. Sheamus just the other day showed up at a show he didn't have to be at. He does whatever he's asked to do without complaining, he goes to every show and is always wanting to work: he does it all, goes above and beyond. That's what I was like."

Randy Orton was initially pegged as the Rumble victor since he cleanly put over Mark Henry during The World's Strongest Man's rise as World Heavyweight Champion and the event was taking place in his hometown of St. Louis, Missouri. Later, the idea was changed to Jericho, setting up a WWE Championship showdown against CM Punk at WrestleMania XXVIII.

WWE officials contemplated last week having John Cena win the match due to the stipulation that "everyone was eligible" for the Rumble. Cena would win the match and subsequently make a tough decision: take the title shot and not face The Rock at WrestleMania.

The quickest way to get over in the WWE is to kiss HHH's ass!

This isn't the full report. Makes Triple H sound like a real dick.

Maybe you do not remember the power Triple H and Shawn Michaels had in the 90s? No one was champion unless they said so and this included Hulk Hogan. Not much has changed it seems, now he just has a lot more power behind the scenes instead of the locker room.

Then how was Bret Hart, who Shawn and Hunter hated, champion and the top guy for so long? The whole Triple H thing, along with the whole Kliq thing, has always been overblown and overreacted on.

You should read Harts book, I think he mentions it in Wrestling with Shadows video also, can not remember, you may find you are wrong. Hart had a lot of trouble with the Kliq.

I have read his book, I own his book, and obviously he had trouble with the Kliq, hence why I said Shawn and Hunter hated him, my point was he was still on top and if they had all this power that everyone thought they had, why was he still on top?

lol I never meant to say they were Supermen or taking over Vinces job lol

All I meant was, Triple H still had some power back then and he has power now although he probably does deserve it now because he is a hard worker in the business and loyal to WWE but as I said, it never really changed, he went from the Kliq and then to being champ all the time in the early 2000s and now to marrying Vinces daughter. He always had some kind of power.

lol it is a funny thought but if i remember right, they did run into each other, had some trouble with deals behind their backs etc, i could be wrong though.

I am glad Sheamus won, he had a great year and IMO deserved to win. I think he was a great choice as Jericho can get his match another way easily enough.

Makes me think how big Sheamus would get if they were in the steroid days, he and Triple H working out together, I think he would have got a lot bigger than he is. lol

Doesn't matter if Sheamus is Hunters friend or not. He deserved the win. He busts his ass, usually has good matches. And his mic skills has improved a hell of a lot since the day he came in.

Granted I'd like to have seen Jericho win as it's the only thing he hasn't, but Sheamus was still good. Just glad someone new won the rumble this year.

You mean to tell me that Sheamus winning was not he only idea they had? I am shocked and dumbfounded as I thought a company as big as the WWE with different guys pitching ideas would all have the EXACT same idea.(sarcasm)
