Default Miz Being Blamed For Poor Buy Rate

WWE officials contemplated months ago of putting The Miz back in the WWE Championship picture come January. That did not happen and he has not won a televised singles match since the December 5, 2011 edition of Raw. There are people within WWE who believe top officials are blaming him for the Survivor Series drawing a disappointing buy number. Teaming with R-Truth, he appeared in the main event against John Cena and The Rock.

The pay-per-view event, which featured The Rock’s first wrestling match in over seven years, is estimated to have garnered 260,000 buys worldwide. It was reported that of that figure, 160,000 pay-per-view purchases came from the United States.

The estimate compares to 244,000 buys in 2010 and 235,000 in 2009, which nearly got the show scrapped from the annual pay-per-view line-up.

Yeah, this is stupid, and probably bullshit. If anything is to blame it's the fact that the main event was so predictable and it was obvious Rock and Cena would win.

You have to partly blame The Miz along with r-truth for the poor showing. But the predictability of that match is the real culprit.

I'm never been a fan of The Miz and I certainly never felt he was a main event talent. So this isn't surprising. To me The Miz is a better tag team performer than a solo performer.

    Poor Miz

The real culprit(s) is obviously the predictability of the match itself and the fact that WWE has chased off 50% of its audience with its Barney the Dinosaur booking. Little kids dont have $50 to spend on a WWE PPV.

As others have said the only people at fault are the WWE. Could anyone really take Miz & Truth as a serious threat to Rock & Cena?

You also have to factor in the rising costs of buying PPVs and the terrible state the economy is in.

I love how they wouldn't dare blame Cena or Rock for it. R-Truth and Miz were built up as a reputable tag team but as others have said, the outcome was predictable and paying $50 to see it (in america) really isn't worth it. WWE really need to devise a new business model.

"We’re fighting because Anderson doesn’t want to fight me. Anderson trained with Munoz, he got destroyed by Munoz, he doesn’t want to fight Mark. Ed Soares, Anderson’s manager, worked diligently behind the scenes to make Mark and I fight each other. So I don’t have a big problem fighting Mark. my resentment is that Anderson got his way.”

The real blame here was the crappy booking. Miz & Truth never looked like a legit threat as Cena was taking both of them out by himself leading up to the match.

They have only themselves to blame. Everyone knew Miz and Truth were going to be fed to Cena and Rock. Why pay for that?

The selling point of this PPV was The Rock's return to the ring & teaming with Cena...as much as I hate to say it but along with the crappy booking I said earlier, The Rock wasn't the gigantic sell that they were expecting (or maybe the fact that he wasn't around past the last segment of the last RAW before the PPV) to sell the PPV.

i was just gonna say that

and plus i think if the match with cena wasnt announced it wouldve sold more but with the match at wm already set the survivor series match didnt make much of a difference in the story

Adults buy PPVs, kids get their adults to buy stuff for them.

Between $50 for a PPV and $10 for a toy or a t-shirt we know what they will be choosing.

Market to kids and have good merchandise sales, market to adults and get ratings, PPV buys AND merchandise sales.

Exactly when you market to kids, you're relying on parents wanting to shell out 50 bucks for something that will only keep the kid(s) entertained for a few hours. I still dont see how going after the Sesame street demo makes the WWE more money than going after a demographic of people that actually have money to spend. Under their current format their relying on parents wanting to buy it when its competing agaisnt a million other toys and kids shows.

It's a half truth at best.

Survivor Series was gonna draw a few extras in but never a huge amount.

The team of Miz and R-Truth SHOULD be walked over by John Cena and The Rock. It's really that simple.

If anything you could argue Miz was more to blame because he'd been in the spotlight for more or less a year and basically failed to do anything much of note with it so a lot fo people are bored of him as a main eventer, whereas R-Truth is newer and thus not had teh time to become as stale.

Overall though it's more a case that niether The Miz nor R-Truth are top tier main event stars on the level of The Rock or John Cena.
