Spinning out of the 5 people you would sign and Austin Aries threads, I thought it would be interesting to see what people would do with the X-Division. Now, as it stands, the people who are or have recently been competing in the division are Austin Aries, Zema Ion, Kid Kash, Jesse Sorensen and not too recently Alex Shelley and Anthony Nese. Aries and Shelley aside, it's hardly an inspiring or particularly talented group when it comes to the X division style.
Zema Ion has potential. He's good but not great in the ring and has something of a character and look. Kash is just the token veteran of the division (A role more ably filled in the past by Jerry Lynn and Christopher Daniels). Sorensen was okay as a general small wrestler but maybe lacked the speed of an X division guy. Anthony Nese looks, from what I've seen, to be good in the ring and a good guy to build up long term but he's a long way from being a credible champion. Alex Shelley won't be in the division for a while. He'll be teaming with Sabin to hopefully make the tag division interesting. Aries too looks to be moving away from the X-division. He's already beaten everyone there is to beat and now he'll probably move towards the main event scene.
So, here's the premise. You are given control of the X-division. You can book it how you like. You can bring in whoever you like and use anyone currently on the roster that you want. You do though have to adhere to the recently implemented weight restriction of 225 lbs. Obviously as well, try and be somewhat realistic in the people you bring in. No, Hiroshi Tanahashi isn't going to give up main eventing NJPW to be the token Japanese guy in TNA's X-division. Likewise, Sin Cara isn't going to suddenly leave WWE (and all the momey they pay him) for TNA.
The main questions I have are:
- Who would be in the division from the current roster?
- Who would you add from outside the company?
- Who would you have take the belt from Aries? When? How?
- How would you book the division over lets say the next 6 months to a year? Both on TV and on PPV?
